Safeguarding at Lady Techy
Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and listened to when they ask for help with technology.
Lady Techy is committed to protecting the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every client. This commitment applies to every visit, phone call, email and other contact.
What you can expect from me
- Visits are by appointment only.
- I come alone and I am DBS checked.
- I will never rush you, pressure you or make you feel silly.
- I will only touch your devices or accounts with your permission, and while you feel comfortable.
- I will explain what I am doing in clear, simple language.
- I will never ask for your bank details, PINs or online-banking passwords.
- I will never move money for you or ask you to transfer money.
- I will never sell your information. I will not share it without your permission unless there is a serious safety concern or the law requires me to do so.
Your rights
You are in charge at all times. You can ask me to stop, take a break or explain something again.
You are welcome to have a family member, friend or carer present. You can end a visit whenever you wish, without needing to give a reason.
If you are worried about someone
Older adults and people with additional needs can sometimes be at risk of abuse, neglect or scams. This may include financial scams carried out by phone, email or online. I take these concerns seriously.
Someone may be worried about a family member if they notice:
- An unexpected change in mood, behaviour or appearance
- Confusion about money, accounts or purchases
- Reluctance to speak openly when another person is present
- Unusual fear, pressure or dependence on someone else
- Another person trying to control their devices, accounts or finances
How I respond to a concern
I will listen calmly and without judgement, and take what you tell me seriously. I will record information accurately and factually.
I will not promise to keep a secret if someone may be at risk. If there is immediate danger, I will call 999. Otherwise, I may raise the concern with the local adult safeguarding team and, wherever possible, support the person to make the report themselves.
I respect confidentiality, but it is not absolute where someone is at risk of serious harm.
Working safely in your home
I let a trusted contact know where I am and when I expect to finish a visit. I will always treat your home, belongings and personal information with respect.
If a situation feels unsafe for either of us, I will leave and take appropriate steps to seek help.
Tell me if something is not right
Please tell me if you have a worry or something does not feel right. You can contact me at hello@ladytechy.com. You can also raise a concern by phone or in person, and I can help put it in writing if needed.
For a more formal complaint, please see the Complaints Procedure.
