Meet Justine, founder of Lady Techy
Technology should help people feel more independent and connected - not confused, rushed or left behind.
I’m Justine, the founder of Lady Techy. I provide calm, patient and jargon-free technology support for older adults, people who feel anxious or overwhelmed by technology, and anyone who would benefit from clear explanations without judgement.
I help individuals, families and small businesses feel more comfortable with computers, phones, Wi-Fi, printers, websites and online systems.
My aim is simple: to help people move from confusion to confidence.
Hello, I’m Justine
I’m originally from South Africa and now live in Reading with my daughter.
I have worked in IT and technology support for many years, helping people and small businesses with everyday technology and online systems.
My experience includes:
- Computers and phones
- Wi-Fi and printers
- Websites and online systems
- Accessibility and assistive technology
- Practical technology guidance at home
- One-to-one support and explanations
I started Lady Techy because I wanted to offer the kind of support that gives people time to understand what is happening.
You do not need to know the technical words, and you do not need to feel embarrassed about asking a question. We can take things one step at a time.
Experience shaped by accessibility
Before starting Lady Techy, I spent more than four years supporting visually impaired people across Berkshire.
This included helping with equipment, assistive technology, home visits and one-to-one guidance. That experience showed me how much the right technology and the right support can contribute to someone’s independence.
I’m also the parent of a child with visual and hearing impairments. This has given me a strong personal understanding of accessibility, the different ways people interact with technology, and how important it is for devices to work around the person using them.
Accessibility is not an extra consideration at Lady Techy. It is part of the way I approach support from the beginning.
Calm support without judgement
Technology can be difficult for many reasons. A device may be unfamiliar, instructions may be unclear, or a problem may have appeared without warning.
Sometimes people are worried about pressing the wrong button. Sometimes they have been made to feel that they should already understand something.
I take a different approach.
My support is:
- Patient and unhurried
- Explained in plain English
- Adapted to your pace and needs
- Focused on practical, everyday results
- Free from judgement and unnecessary jargon
Whether you need help with one small problem or want to feel more confident using your devices, I’ll start by listening carefully and understanding what would help you most.
Who I help
- Older adults who want patient help with everyday technology
- People who feel anxious, frustrated or overwhelmed by devices
- Anyone who wants something explained clearly and without jargon
- Individuals who need accessibility support
- Small businesses that need practical help with technology and online systems
- Families arranging support for someone they care about
My goal is not simply to fix a problem and disappear. I want you to understand what is happening and feel more able to manage your technology afterwards.
From confusion to confidence
I created Lady Techy to make technology feel more approachable.
That might mean setting up a phone, getting a printer working, improving access to a website, understanding an online system or finding a more comfortable way to use a device.
Whatever the starting point, I tailor my support to the person rather than delivering a one-size-fits-all lesson.
You can ask questions, take notes, go slowly and return to something later. There is no test, and there is no need to pretend you understand something when you do not.
Ready to feel more confident?
If technology is causing frustration or you are not sure where to begin, you can start with a conversation.
Tell me what you need help with, and together we can work out the next step.
